Announcing 826 Boston College Essay Boot Camp, Saturday, November 15th!

826 Boston and Northeastern University will host an intensive weekend writing session in fall 2014 to assist at least 100 college-bound high school students from the Boston area with their college essays, personal statements, and applications. Trained tutors will be available to provide individualized writing help to students from across the city. This free event includes: one-on-one support with a trained writing tutor, optional tours of the Northeastern University campus, and lunch on site.

College Essay Boot Camp serves students at every stage of the writing process - even students who arrive empty-handed in the morning leave the six-hour workshop with a draft saved to a thumb drive, and an essay hard copy.

Most of the College Essay Boot Camp tutors are recruited through the volunteer networks of 826 Boston, a youth writing and tutoring center located in Roxbury with a volunteer base of over 500, and from the Northeastern University student body. The Northeastern University Writing Program and the Opportunity Scholarships and Outreach Programs office are providing key support, as well as providing insight into the college application process as part of the workshop welcome session.

The location on Northeastern University campus is TBD and will be announced this summer/fall.
